digging doubt
a day of digging deeper creates dangerous doubt.

is it because my shovel will never hit what i'm searching for? should i keep digging, sweating, laying awake at night?

we're living in portsmouth, oh. sarah is teaching english at northwest high school and i'm trying to reflect christ in my community. technically, yes, i'm working as the student ministries director at christ's community church -- i sometimes just don't like to admit the typical "pastor" thing or working for a "church."

does doubt have to be dangerous? or can doubt lead to questions which may not lead to answers but do demonstrate a desire for growth and knowledge which God promises (wisdom is avaaliable to anyone who genuinely seeks it according to james 1). and isnt it this desire that fuels our passion to know Him more?

When asked for advice about ministry, evangelist D. L. Moody gave his workers several rules:
1. Have a constant use a portable reference Bible, a concordance, and a topical textbook.
2. Always carry a Bible or testament in your pocket.
3. Do not be afraid of marking it or making marginal notes.
4. Set apart time each day for study and meditation.
5. Always ask God to open the eyes of your understanding.
6. Cast every burden of doubt upon the Lord.
7. Believe in the Bible as God's revelation to you, and act accordingly. Reverence all Scripture.
8. Learn at least one verse of Scripture each day. Verses committed to memory will be wonderfully useful in your daily life.
9. Try at any cost to master the Bible. You ought to know it better than anyone in your congregation or class. Adopt a systematic plan for Bible study, and strive to be exact in quoting Scripture.
10. Always practice Ezra 7:10: Prepare your heart to study and obey the way of the Lord.
